Success Story

Client: MBNA America
Project: Enterprise Resource Upgrade and Development Employing Oracle Financial Applications

Financial

We've had a long history of successes at MBNA America. We've served as Project Architects during four Oracle Applications upgrades from version 9 through 11i including the General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, and Purchasing modules. We've been crucial team members for the ERP deployments in Canada and Britain. Our knowledge of the underlying database components and system architecture have made us valuable resources during various data-mining projects that utilized Oracle's Discoverer tool-set. MBNA has looked to us to for successful project deployment by providing technical and leadership skills while utilizing our proven techniques.

Customer Relationship Management

A critical component and distinguishing market characteristic of MBNA America is their Affinity Group concept. Affinity Groups will permit MBNA use their name and logo so that MBNA can market their services to the Affinity Group members; universities, clubs, sports franchises, etc. are examples of affinity groups. MBNA uses components of Oracle's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) application to compensate the affinity groups, and they tapped us to write the compensation calculator. This is a complex module that determines compensation fees based on individual contract rules. Each Affinity Group maintains unique arrangements with MBNA, and these rules were captured and processed by our calculator. It's a complicated and important function that required accomplished professionals to deliver.

Testing and Quality Control

We were selected to lead the development of a library of reusable tests for the financial and supply chain applications. Our selection was based on our knowledge of the businesses and our technical expertise in Oracle Applications and the suite of Mercury testing tools. Specifically, all requirements and test plans were built using Mercury Quality Center (Enterprise version of Test Director). Test labs were composed of logical groupings of plans that would fit in manageable sized groups. About 80 percent of the test scripts were automated using the Mercury Quick Test Professional desktop tool, and executed from Quality Center defined Labs. We achieved our goal, which was to create repeatable tests that could be executed by any person, regardless of skill level. The Defects Module was used as the repository for all issues and resolutions. We took advantage of this integrated tool and its ad hoc reporting capabilities to deliver a high quality implementation for the supply chain module.
