Systems Transformation (Wang Cobol and Pace to Oracle)
|
Diplomatic Pouch and Mail
ACC provided Legacy modernization services, which included the transformation to a
Windows client server network, Cobol-ISAM to Oracle and post transformation operational
(DBA) and development support. Project included: Project management, automated
transformation, Oracle DBA, target assessment, networking, benchmarking, performance
enhancement, secure communications integration, installation and acceptance testing, Y2K,
cutover, C++, Micro Focus and Oracle installation, training, and development, data conversion
and assurance (ISAM/RDBMS), system security and ongoing operational support.
The WANG COBOL was converted to Windows NT, COBOL and included the conversion of data
to ORACLE tables accessed by embedded SQL/ProCobol. The task also included Y2K
remediation and certification. This system was originally developed with the use of a proprietary
RDBMS file access and management system, "ResponseR" that ACC converted to native COBOL
and embedded SQL for file access. The system included telegram communication, which was also
converted to the target platform. This application provides management support for movement of
mail for all U.S. agencies worldwide. ACC provides on-going Oracle DBA support and is
developing additional capabilities including bar code data entry for a large international mail depot
center.
There were three project assignments for this client:
- Convert the Wang Cobol
- Provide continuing support including Oracle Data Base Administration and MFCobol/
NetExpress application support and the integration of Bar Code technology as a functional component
- Perform Y2K remediation and certification
