Corporate Information - History History

30 years in serving its clients, helping them leverage and protect their investment in information technology through the enhancement of the organization's strategic and operational information.

Corporate Information - History

Since 1972 American Cybernetic Corporation (ACC) has served public and private organizations with a broad range of management advisory and system support services. The diversity of assignments, the skill of its staff, the continuity and excellence of service and the personal attention to its clients is what sets ACC apart from most organizations. ACC understands the human side... the worries, the ambition, the pride... of operating a successful entity.

The ACC headquarter's office is located in Rockville, Maryland. It is from this location that all project coordination and administration takes place. In 1995 ACC expanded its operation to offer greater converge in both the European and World markets by establishing an office in Budapest, Hungary.

The major projects have been for both U.S. and international clients in a cross industry range. In total, over 100 client assignments have been performed.

ACC has provided support to its clients throughout the evolution of MIS. In the course of the past 30+ years, ACC has been engaged in projects for mainframe, midrange and a wide range of technologies, including Business Case - IT investment/ROI, Best Practices, Logistics, Assets and Finance, legacy modernization, database management, networking, website, multimedia, and on and on…

Technology Solutions

Information technology, once a back-office function, now supports all business processes within a company. The management of IT is a fast-paced balancing act between the issues facing the business, technology problems and opportunities and the IT management agenda itself.

The complexity of technology and the fast pace of change is creating a journey into the unknown. Being a Chief Information Officer in today's environment means balancing the many different needs of the organization to create effective solutions.

Organizations need to be confident that the partners they choose have the required technical integration, business process and sector skills to make a real difference to their organization. It is no longer sufficient to work with excellent IT implementation partners. You need partners who can integrate the myriad of packages available in the marketplace and build a solution or portfolio of applications that meet the specific needs of your organization, its supply chain, stakeholders and customers.

Some of ACC's key areas of support include:

System Integration
Strategic Change
System Transformation
Software Development

System Integration

For over 30 years, ACC has developed system concepts, defined requirements, engineered solutions, and integrated complex mission-critical systems for clients. We design, build, and deliver client-specific business solutions, integrating them with new or existing hardware, packaged or custom software, and communications protocols and networks. We integrate these solutions into a client's business environment and current technology infrastructure, taking advantage of what is already in place to help enhance an organization's information technology (IT) investment.

ACC helps clients sort through the business, process, strategy, technology and management issues that are part of any successful systems integration effort. We design open systems, ensuring that our solutions meet specific requirements. Whether the project involves building a new system or converting an existing one, we offer a full range of systems integration activities, including project management, systems engineering, test and evaluation, integration and implementation support, and services including:

  • Business process redesign - Best Practices

  • Economic analysis

  • Planning, design, development and implementation

  • Independent verification and validation/testing

  • Network design, acquisition, implementation, testing, security, and support

Strategic Change

ACC analyzes the client's objectives to determine what is necessary for objective accomplishment. Strategic change helps a company to maximize its market value within the context of its industry and the societies in which it operates. To understand which strategic changes are needed, ACC addresses change in manageable, related areas.

Typically ACC addresses five strategic areas of possible change:

  • Operations strategy

  • IT strategy

  • Organizational strategy

  • Change strategy

System Transformation

Legacy Modernization:

Central to ACC's business direction is Legacy Modernization. Although many firms have rapidly and enthusiastically adopted the distributed architectures, many more are stuck with legacy-mission critical systems that continue to isolate them from their partners, suppliers, and customers. ACC's Legacy Modernization tool-set, "Transporter" is designed to support the transformation of legacy systems to newer, more productive platforms so that organizations can exploit faster and cheaper development technologies, offering the responsiveness for changing business requirements and technology enhancements. ACC has employed its modernization tools for many platforms, including:

  • IBM
  • DEC
  • Hewlett Packart
  • Data Genera
  • NCR
  • Univac
  • Prime
  • Honeywell-Bull
  • Wang (COBOL & Pace)

The targets include: UNIX, Windows, and Linux.

Far Reaching Support

ACC doesn't stop with the migration of a client's legacy applications, it goes beyond that to enable the client's progress - considerably faster, cheaper, and better, and at the same time, with far less risk. Included in ACC's support capabilities is:

  • Oracle development, DBA & Financials support including formal training
  • Cobol development (Miocrofocus, Acucobol, Cobol/400...)
  • Web enablement and the application of technologies as JAVA & XML
  • Knowledge Management including scanning and digitizing documents, data warehousing and search engine integration
  • Multimedia and development of CBT-WBT training products

Project Management

ACC's structured project management incorporates the use of its web-enabled management tools. Our tools have been significantly beneficial for far reaching projects - both geographical and performance mixtures. The management of projects can be monitored, regardless of time zone or phase. This has been an important element for both ACC in the performance of the project as well as the client's assessment and event involvement.
